New Orleans was awesome. We ate a ton! New Orleans birthed some of the nation’s greatest music legends, and continues to create some of the most talked about culinary delights in the nation. There’s so much to do in this Southern city.

Frenchmen Street is all about the music, so when you hear something you like just shimmy in and have a listen. When the hat goes around for tips, though, don’t forget to leave a little something.

When it’s time for some evening fun, leave Bourbon Street to the amateurs and follow the sweet sounds over on Frenchmen Street instead. Here you’ll be among some of the best local entertainment. The Spotted Cat is one of the top nightspots, frequently hosting local jazz and blues bands. Wherever you end up for the night, know this: The space will be small and the cover charge (if any) will be minimal.

Of course, you cannot talk about New Orleans without chatting about the food right?! As you wander the streets you smell honest-to-goodness po-boys, crawfish being boiled, and of course the unique smell of cajun and creole spices. Since we were in New Orleans, we obviously had to have beignets. We went to Cafe Du Monde, and were served up a basket with three pillowy puffs of fried dough smothered in powdered sugar. Incredible!! Oh yea, you MUST MUST try Acme Oyster House, best oyster ever!
